Award-winning team take new lease on The Hogget, near Hook
Acting on behalf of Marston's Pub Company, the Winchester office of leading
licensed property agents, Christie + Co, has sold a brand new lease on The
Hogget public house, formerly the Dorchester Arms, on the busy A30, near
Hook, Hampshire.
The Hogget re-opened in mid-April following a £300,000 refurbishment with a
new look, new owners and a new chef. The new licensees, Tom and Vicky
Faulkner, won the prestigious Best Pub Food Award' at last year's Marston's
Pub Company Awards and the new chef, Simon Brooks, was runner-up in the
pub company's Chef of the Year' category.
The Hogget, at Hook Common, is prominently positioned on the busy A30
(London Road) at its junction with the A287, approximately 0.8 miles
southwest of Hook, one mile north of Junction 5 of the M3 and six miles east
of Basingstoke.
The two-storey, detached property comprises a public bar to seat 14, a lower
restaurant area to seat 18, a raised restaurant area to seat, three-bedroom
owner's accommodation, a large trade terrace for 100+ customers and a large
car park.
Tonya West of the Winchester office of Christie + Co comments: "We are
delighted to have been able to find Tom and Vicky a new challenge in the
shape of The Hogget. They are veteran licensees, having moved from the
well regarded Vine Inn in Hambledon, which they transformed into a popular
venue for both food and drink. They have welcomed a return to their roots,
having been born and brought up in local villages close to the town of Hook."
Tom Faulkner commented: "We hope to turn The Hogget into a good quality
food pub with all produce sourced from within a ten-mile radius. We want
customers to visit us once a week for a home-cooked meal."
The new lease on the former Dorchester Arms was sold for an undisclosed
figure through Christie + Co.
