Local couple take over the Harrier pub in Hamble
The leasehold interest in The Harrier, an attractive public house in the sought
after village of Hamble, has been sold to a couple from the nearby village of
Netley Abbey through the Winchester office of leading licensed property
agents, Christie + Co.
Located just outside Southampton on the south coast in Hampshire, picturesque
Hamble is famous for its association with yachting and aviation and has three
marinas, three yachting clubs and several pubs and restaurants.
The Harrier is located at 70 Hamble Lane, close to the village centre, and is
well established as a traditional community pub, serving food at lunchtimes and
attracting a local clientele.
The detached, two-storey, character property briefly comprises a public bar,
dining area and games area, three-bedroom owner's accommodation, a trade
beer garden with children's play equipment and ample customer car parking to
the front.
Keith Goodwin of Christie + Co's Winchester office comments: "We have sold
the leasehold interest in The Harrier on behalf of Jackie White, who has
operated the pub for eight successful years. She managed the pub for five
years before taking the opportunity to purchase the lease herself three years
ago, and has now moved on to pastures new.
Hamble is a highly sought after location and the sale of The Harrier attracted
plenty of interest. We are pleased to have sold it to a local couple, David and
Sarah Brown from nearby Netley Abbey."
The Harrier was sold for an undisclosed figure from an asking price of £55,000
for the leasehold interest. There are eight years remaining on the current 10-
year lease and the current rent is £27,900 per annum. The landlord is
Enterprise Inns.
